Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Personalized, Modern Techniques For Natural-Looking Results
With time, as breast skin loses its elasticity, the breast will
often lose its fullness and firmness causing them to sag. This
can be the result of pregnancy, weight loss or simply the march
of time. Whatever the reason, if your breasts are not as
youthful as they used to be, then Dr. DeLuca can restore the
size and firmness of your breasts with a Breast Lift.
Breast Lift, or Mastopexy, is a surgical procedure used to
restore and reshape the look of your breasts. Dr. DeLuca
sometimes performs the Breast Lift procedure in conjunction with
Breast Augmentation, when patients express a desire to have more
volume resulting in fuller breasts.
Dr. DeLuca consults personally with each patient to be certain
that they will achieve their aesthetic goals. Various breast
lift techniques are available. Following the consultation, Dr.
DeLuca will recommend the breast lift technique that is best
suited to your individual needs.
Circumareolar Technique
This technique is chosen when a smaller lift is needed. Dr.
DeLuca makes a small incision around the areola (pigmented skin
around the nipple) of the breast. This incision can also be used
to place a breast implant if an augmentation is to be performed
together with the lift. With the circumareolar technique, the
only visible scar is located around the outside of the areola.
If a bigger lift is necessary, another technique may be selected
in which the scar will descend from the areola down under the
fold of the breast.
Vertical Mastopexy/Full Scar Mastopexy (Inverted-T Mastopexy)
Dr. DeLuca prefers the vertical mastopexy for women who require
a significant breast lift. He will often combine the breast lift
with an augmentation to give the breast a fuller shape. In this
technique, he makes a 'lollipop' shaped incision only, sparing
the much longer incision in the breast crease necessary with an
inverted-T mastopexy.
Very infrequently, Dr. DeLuca may recommend the traditional full
scar mastopexy (inverted-T) for women that require a very
significant breast lift. With this approach, the incisions will
include the 'lollipop' incision plus an incision that runs along
the lower breast crease.
With each technique, the stitches are located below the skin and
are dissolvable. This spares the patient from having to go
through the uncomfortable procedure of having the stitches
manually removed.
As with all the cosmetic procedures he performs, Dr. DeLuca
makes the smallest incision possible with minimal scarring.
Recovery time varies by procedure. Most of Dr. DeLuca's patients
are up and about in 3-5 days. If combined with an augmentation,
patients should plan on 7-10 days for recovery. However, most of
Dr. DeLuca's patients are back at work within a week.
Imagine the renewed self confidence you'll feel with more
youthful and shapely breasts following breast lift surgery.
